Join us July 27 at 7pm via Zoom to hear Dr. Scott Eberhardt talk about “Aerospace Engineering in the Cloud”.
A quiet revolution is going on in aerospace IT. More and more workloads are moving into the cloud. Why? Because cloud computing is more durable, available and secure than infrastructure held on premises. But you can also get exactly what you need when you need it. AWS (Amazon Web Services) has over 200 services from compute to machine learning to Internet of Things (IoT). In this presentation, Dr. Eberhardt will show how AWS is being used in the aerospace industry and share stories about how he used AWS in his earlier life as a consultant. Examples include a month in Mexico working off a tablet. Another is using AWS to securely store digital family photos. As a journeyman professor, Scott was able to mount an AWS drive ($5/month for 1TB) and had all his teaching materials going back decades on his newly assigned computer. Working with a partner, they were able to launch large CFD jobs on AWS with no up-front investment.
Dr. Eberhardt is the World Wide Tech Lead for Aerospace at Amazon Web Services (AWS) and has worked with Boeing, UW and NASA Ames Research Center.
