with a focus on the past, present, and future of the industry.

Thank you for joining us for a combination of keynote addresses, technical presentations, panel and workshops.   Our attendees enjoyed interacting with organizations in our expo exhibit as well as participating in networking and mentoring opportunities.

Our young professionals track, the Rising Leaders Forum, included sessions targeting early career attendees and features a student poster session.

Michael Lombardi started at Boeing in 1979 and has been the Senior Corporate Historian for the Boeing Company since 1994. He is also the corporate historian for North American Aviation and manager of Boeing Historical Services which includes the company’s historical archives.

Mr. Lombardi, has a BA in history from City University and has presented lectures on aerospace history to the American Institute of Astronautics and Aeronautics, the Royal Aeronautical Society, The Air League of the UK and several air museums. He is a regular contributor to Boeing publications and has one book published on the history of strategic airpower. As a spokesperson for Boeing, Mr. Lombardi has appeared in documentaries for the Discovery Channel, PBS, Smithsonian Channel, and the BBC. He also serves as the guest curator for the Museum of Flight.

AIAA Sponsored Keynote:

Dr. Paul Bevilaqua has spent much of his career developing Vertical Take Off and
Landing aircraft. He joined Lockheed Martin as Chief Aeronautical Scientist and
became Chief Engineer of the Skunk Works, where he played a leading role in creating
the Joint Strike Fighter.

Prior to Lockheed Martin, he was Manager of Advanced Programs at Rockwell International’s Navy aircraft plant, where he led the design of VSTOL interceptor and transport aircraft. He began his career as an Air Force officer at Wright Patterson AFB, where he developed a lift system for an Air Force VSTOL Search and Rescue Aircraft.


Rising Leaders Forum Keynote:

Dr. Erika Wagner serves as Payload Sales Director for Blue Origin, supporting the development of technologies to enable human access to space at dramatically lower cost and increased reliability. Prior to joining Blue Origin, Dr. Wagner worked with the X PRIZE Foundation as Senior Director of Exploration Prize Development and founding Executive Director of the X PRIZE Lab@MIT.

Previously, she served at MIT as Science Director and Executive Director of the Mars Gravity Biosatellite Program, a multi-university spacecraft development initiative to investigate the physiological effects of reduced gravity. Her interdisciplinary academic background includes a bachelor’s in Biomedical Engineering from Vanderbilt University, a master’s in Aeronautics & Astronautics from MIT, and a PhD in Bioastronautics from the Harvard/MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology.

She is also an alumna of the International Space University, a Trustee of Seattle’s Museum of Flight, a member of the National Academies’ Space Studies Board, and an AIAA Associate Fellow.
